How to get your business recommended by ChatGPT

AI assistants recommend brands they can verify from trusted sources. Here are the signals that matter and how to build them.

How AI decides who to recommend

When someone asks "which clinic should I go to?", the assistant assembles an answer from what it has learned and, increasingly, from live web results. It favours brands that appear consistently across sources it trusts: review platforms, press, directories, comparison articles and your own clear website.

You can't buy your way into the organic answer. You can make yourself the easiest, safest name to recommend.

1. Be findable and readable

2. Answer the questions directly on your site

Create pages that answer what customers actually ask: prices, comparisons, "is it safe", "how long does it take", "X vs Y". Put the answer in the first paragraph, then the detail.

3. Build third-party proof

This is where most of the effect comes from.

4. Keep facts consistent

Name, address, prices, services and opening hours should match everywhere. Conflicting information makes an assistant less likely to name you.

5. Measure it

Run the same set of buyer questions every month across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot. Track how often you're named, in what position, and which sources are cited.

Most businesses can see movement within 2 to 3 months if they work on reviews and third-party mentions consistently.
