Running AI ads in regulated verticals: what's allowed
Gambling, health, finance and other regulated categories face extra rules in AI ad platforms. How to approach them safely.
The general picture
AI ad platforms are new and cautious. Most launched with stricter policies than Google or Meta, and loosen category by category over time. Expect restrictions, review delays and policy updates.
Category by category
| Category | Typical stance at launch | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Gambling and iGaming | Restricted or prohibited | Focus on organic AI visibility; monitor policy updates |
| Health and aesthetics | Allowed with limits on claims | Factual copy, no before/after promises |
| Financial services | Often requires extra verification | Prepare licence details in advance |
| Alcohol | Age and market limits | Restrict targeting to allowed markets |
| Dating and adult | Usually prohibited | Not a viable channel for now |
This table is a general guide, not legal advice. Always check the platform's current policy for your country.
Organic visibility still works
Even where ads are blocked, assistants still answer questions about your category. Reviews, press, comparison sites and clear content can get you named in answers without buying placements.
For iGaming affiliates
Comparison and review sites already feed AI answers about "best casino" or "best bonus" questions. The fundamentals are the same as SEO: authority, freshness, and accurate, compliant information.
